12 Coup soldiers; others put on immigration stop list

About twelve (12) soldiers including a senior military officer, Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli and others have been put on an immigration stop list after being described as flight risk by security agencies.

As a result, all entry and exit points of the country have been notified through the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) not to allow them leave the country until the final determination of the case pending before the courts.

All 12 soldiers some of whom are junior ranks, have been fingered in the foiled coup d’etat allegedly championed by Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm owner of Cidatel Hospital Hospital.

Six (6) of the  soldiers were on Monday September 30, 2019 arraigned before  the Kaneshie District Court and are facing similar charges of possession of explosives, arms and ammunitions without lawful excuse .

Last week, Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah dropped a hint that a top military officer and other junior rank soldiers were among suspects in the case.

“There are military persons including an officer who are in custody and being interrogated in connection with this incident,” he revealed on Accra-based Starr Fm.

Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm owner of Cidatel Hospital Hospital and his two accomplices – Mr. Ezor Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Mr. Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu (aka BB or ADC) are currently in the custody of the BNI over the alleged plot.

Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli and Gershon Akpa who is a civilian employee were also last week arraigned before the  Kaneshie District Court  presided over by Rosemond Dodua Agyiri for their alleged involvement in a coup plot and remanded to reappear at a later date.
